Save the National Long Gun Registry

The National Long gun registry is under attack, despite how many lives have been saved since its inception. Bill C391 is a private members bill that will see the dismantling of a registry that is utilized 10,000 times per day by police officers. We can’t let this happen; we must keep our communities safe. Please talk to your MP if they voted to scrap the registry and ask that they change their vote.

CAW Local 2002 President Leslie Dias has written to Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff as well as New Democratic Party leader Jack Layton asking them to whip their caucus and have them Vote No to bill C-391. President Dias has also forwarded letters to the Liberal and NDP Members of Parliament who are supporting this bill asking them to do the right thing and vote for a safer Canada. We ask that you do the same.

CAW Director Women's Programs

"On Dec 6, 1989 14 women were murdered because someone thought they stepped out of line. On that day, all their power and potential was taken from them. On December 6, 2009 we owe it to them not to waste ours. The 20th anniversary of the Montréal massacre must be more than just another number, another day to commemorate, another day to mourn. This December 6th there must be a call to action."
